Yet To Read… Next in a Fantasy Series

Yet To Read… Next in a Fantasy Series

Yet to Read is the weekly meme where I take a look at books on my shelves (physical and digital) that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet and books on my wishlist that I’ve wanted to add to my shelves for a while. I link these posts up to Can’t-Wait Wednesday and Shelf Control!

The fantasy mood persists this week and inspired by my current read, I wanted to highlight a couple of books that are next in a fantasy series that I’ve already started reading.

For over a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves have lived together in relative peace. But times have changed, the uneasy peace is over, and now the races are fighting once again. The only good elf, it seems, is a dead elf.

Geralt of Rivia, the cunning assassin known as The Witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. This child has the power to change the world – for good, or for evil.

As the threat of war hangs over the land and the child is hunted for her extraordinary powers, it will become Geralt’s responsibility to protect them all – and the Witcher never accepts defeat.

The Witcher returns in this sequel to The Last Wish, as the inhabitants of his world become embroiled in a state of total war.

Late last year and earlier this year I was reading the Witcher books. I got through The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, the two short story collections that start off Geralt of Rivia’s journey and make up most of the first series of the Netflix show, and then I paused to read some other things for a while. I 100% intend to get back to the series with Blood of Elves, however, and I have the first 3 novels in the series on my shelf already.

On The Wishlist

Spoilers for Empire in Black and Gold.

The armies of the Wasp Empire are on the march, and first to feel their might will be the city of Tark, which is even now preparing for siege. Within its walls Salma and Totho must weather the storm, as the Ant-kinden prepare to stand against numbers and weaponry such as the Lowlands have never seen.

I started reading Empire in Black and Gold recently, the first in the Shadows of the Apt series by Adrian Tchaikovsky (which I’m still amazed I can spell), and I’m really enjoying it so far. So naturally, I added books 2-10 to my wishlists. I’m hoping to pick them up with these covers though to match my copy of Empire so we shall see.

Have you read either of these? What’s on your list this week? Let me know in the comments!

    1. Haha yeah, I feel like everytime I blink I find a new book by him I didn’t know about. Empire in Black and Gold is my first of his, at least! I know I can’t catch up but I can enjoy some of it. 😀

  1. The Shadows of the Apt books weren’t all published in that cover style, so you may have to do a bit of compromising!

I’m finally surfacing again and I’ve just binged through all the blog posts I’d missed. 🤣 Sooo enjoyed it!
